Tracking vehicles are not all created equal, there are those that provide what they must and there are those that go that extra mile to provided unrivaled levels of functionality. Action 99 Cars, an established tracking vehicle company based in the United Kingdom approached GripHaus to help develop a unique, highly adaptable and neatly integrated rear mounting system for the control desk and monitors for their new Porsche Cayenne Motocrane tracking vehicle.
HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE
The system needed to be height adjustable in order to accommodate the operator. This is operated by a releasable lever on the arms that are mounted to the B-Posts of the car. In order to make this adjustment as easy as possible we integrated a gas strut to support the weight of the system while making the fine adjustments.
TILTING CONTROL DESK
As with the height adjustability, the ability to adjust the pitch or tilt of the control desk allows you to align the axis between the elbow, wrist and control wheels. This can be adjusted by simply releasing the split cotters on either end of the beam and rotating the beam to the desired angle.
DUAL INTEGRATED SLIDER
A dual slider system was integrated into the design that allows you to easily adjust the monitor and control desk position thus allowing you to relocate the operator to any position on the rear seat within seconds. This also allows the operator to temporarily shift the control desk, making access and egress significantly more comfortable and convenient.
The secondary slider accommodates the Director and Focus Puller monitors, these too can be easily adjusted to the desired location in seconds.
EXTENDABLE
The final axis of adjustability is bringing the control desk closer or further away from the operator. This can be achieved by releasing the large palm knob on the underside of the control panel and sliding it to the desired position.
MONITOR MOUNTING
In order to attach monitors to the sleds, we have incorporated several 3/8 UNC holes allowing for standard ball heads or adjustable magic arms to be mounted.
